{"id":10054,"date":"2025-10-30T12:08:54","date_gmt":"2025-10-30T12:08:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/albotips.com\/?p=10054"},"modified":"2025-10-30T12:08:54","modified_gmt":"2025-10-30T12:08:54","slug":"dad-41-diagnosed-with-alzheimers-disease-gives-shock-update-on-condition-eight-months-later","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/albotips.com\/?p=10054","title":{"rendered":"Dad, 41, diagnosed with Alzheimer\u2019s disease gives shock update on condition eight months later"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A father diagnosed with younger-onset dementia has provided a truly shocking update eight months on.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Receiving such a diagnosis is always going to be a life-changing event, particular in the case of Australian dad Fraser, who was just 41 when the supposed cause of his worrying symptoms was discovered.<\/p>\n<div id=\"newsner-adff83dd52f8044676f8dd5fae054843\" class=\"newsner-adff83dd52f8044676f8dd5fae054843 newsner-bluebillywig_instream\"><\/div>\n<p>Fraser was diagnosed with early-onset\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.newsner.com\/tag\/dementia\/\">Alzheimer\u2019s disease<\/a>, thereafter starting a YouTube cannel,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@YoungOnsetDementia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Younger Onset Dementia<\/a>, to talk about his journey and document his fight with the disease.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo I got diagnosed eight months ago, and I think my symptoms probably started about two\/two-and-a-half years before that,\u201d he explained in a video.<\/p>\n<div id=\"newsner-a0301aef7ee1071ccc6f17387e6238c5\" class=\"newsner-a0301aef7ee1071ccc6f17387e6238c5 newsner-incide_content_once\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s funny because I don\u2019t remember what my symptoms really were initially, all I remember was having some pretty big memory flaws, like I remember I was sitting down to watch a movie once and my partner\u2019s gone, \u2018yeah, we watched that like a month ago\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnyway, I watched the whole movie, and the ending was still a complete surprise. I had no memory of watching it whatsoever, and I didn\u2019t watch many movies either at the time. Fraser also revealed that he\u2019d once gone looking for his daughter in the town where they live, only for it to transpire that she\u2019d already told him she was going to the cinema.<\/p>\n<p>When the symptoms became impossible to ignore, Fraser sought medical tests. Ultimately, after seeing a number of specialists, he was eventually given his surprise dementia diagnosis.<\/p>\n<div id=\"newsner-822301038\" class=\"newsner-article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"newsner-324f78cdbf0e0e7d94836adb54689eee\" class=\"newsner-324f78cdbf0e0e7d94836adb54689eee newsner-amp_article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<p>Yet even the diagnosis itself failed to compare to the shock of what he would experience less than a year later. Taking to his YouTube channel, Fraser explained he had visited doctors for a scan\u2026 only to then be told that he doesn\u2019t have\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.newsner.com\/tag\/alzheimer's\/\">Alzheimer\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0at all.<\/p>\n<p>With Fraser reportedly having done extremely well in the cognitive tests, his puzzled doctors sent him for further tests.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-179307\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-main.newsner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2025\/10\/30083342\/Screenshot-2025-10-30-at-09.33.25.png\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 790px) 100vw, 790px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn-main.newsner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2025\/10\/30083342\/Screenshot-2025-10-30-at-09.33.25.png 790w, https:\/\/cdn-main.newsner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2025\/10\/30083342\/Screenshot-2025-10-30-at-09.33.25-768x714.png 768w\" alt=\"\" width=\"790\" height=\"734\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI had a bit of a decline in my cognition in some areas uh but not as much as what -you know- not to the extent that you would expect for somebody with Alzheimer\u2019s over the past 12 months,\u201d Fraser told his channel.<\/p>\n<p>After more testing, the 41-year-old dad was told categorically that he didn\u2019t have Alzheimer\u2019s disease. Rather, it was his mental health that led to his diagnosis.<\/p>\n<p>Fraser said: \u201cI know all along I have said I don\u2019t want this to be mental health. Yeah. But it\u2019s mental health.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Doctors explained to him that his \u201canxious brain has problems filing memories essentially like in a filing cabinet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fraser clarified that said memories aren\u2019t filed in a \u201clogical way\u201d, meaning he couldn\u2019t retrieve certain memories when required.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A father diagnosed with younger-onset dementia has provided a truly shocking update eight months on.
