Have you ever dreamed of someone who has passed away? These dreams can feel powerful and meaningful. Grieving looks different for everyone\u2014some cry, others withdraw\u2014but many share one experience: dreaming of their lost loved ones.<\/p>\n
Patrick McNamara, a neurology and psychiatry professor at Boston University, calls these \u201cvisitation dreams,\u201d where the deceased appear alive and well. He believes such dreams help us cope with grief and may even suggest life after death.<\/p>\n
Studies support this idea. A 2014 study in the American Journal of Hospice and Palliative Care<\/em> found that dreams of the deceased are common, meaningful, and promote healing. In a 2016 Canadian study, most participants said these dreams made them feel closer to their loved ones and strengthened their belief in an afterlife.<\/p>\n Psychologist Jennifer E.
