The actor said he\u2019s \u201cgrateful to have [his] loving family\u201d as they face this new chapter together.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"355\" data-end=\"616\">Dane, 52, has spoken openly about his condition, calling ALS a \u201cnasty disease.\u201d He recently missed a <em data-start=\"456\" data-end=\"472\">Grey\u2019s Anatomy<\/em> reunion at the Emmys after a fall that required stitches. \u201cI was really upset about missing it,\u201d he said, \u201cbut there was nothing I could do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"618\" data-end=\"855\">Despite the challenges, Dane has been seen out with his wife <strong data-start=\"679\" data-end=\"699\">Rebecca Gayheart<\/strong> and daughters <strong data-start=\"714\" data-end=\"729\">Billie (15)<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"734\" data-end=\"750\">Georgia (13)<\/strong>. Gayheart told <em data-start=\"766\" data-end=\"774\">People<\/em> the diagnosis has been \u201cheartbreaking\u201d for their family, especially the girls.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"857\" data-end=\"1141\">Dane revealed on <em data-start=\"874\" data-end=\"896\">Good Morning America<\/em> that his first symptoms began as weakness in his right hand, which he initially dismissed.
