Obama writes that her wardrobe choices\u2014from colorful dresses in the White House to bold post-presidency looks\u2014represent confidence, culture, and identity.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"675\" data-end=\"960\">In the book, she notes that she and her husband \u201cdidn\u2019t get the grace\u201d afforded to others and that her appearance was often unfairly judged. \u201cWe live in a culture where if somebody wants to go after a woman, the first thing they do is attack her looks,\u201d she told the <em data-start=\"942\" data-end=\"957\">New York Post<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"962\" data-end=\"1098\">Critics note that her comments overlook how former First Lady Melania Trump, a former model, was largely ignored by fashion magazines.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1100\" data-end=\"1315\">This isn\u2019t the first time Obama has linked criticism to race.
