Just ask Lindon Beckford<\/strong>, a patient transporter at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center<\/strong> in Boston. Singing since childhood, Beckford uses his voice to comfort both himself and others as he moves patients through the hospital.<\/p>\n \u201cI was always singing at work,\u201d he said. \u201cIt was a comforting thing\u2026 but then I realized people were listening.\u201d<\/p>\n Seeing how much it helped, Beckford made singing part of his daily routine. After more than 30 years, he\u2019s learned to choose songs that soothe anxious or pained patients.<\/p>\n \u201cAt the end of the trip, they tell me, \u2018You made this so much easier because of your singing.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n For Beckford, music is simply love in action. For his patients, it\u2019s reassurance that everything will be okay\u2014a priceless gift delivered in song.<\/p>\n
