Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Alex Vesia has revealed the heartbreaking reason for his absence during the team\u2019s World Series run.<\/p>\n

Fans questioned his disappearance from the lineup, with the team citing a \u201cdeeply personal family matter.\u201d Vesia and his wife, Kayla, have since shared that their newborn daughter, Sterling Sol Vesia, passed away on October 26.<\/p>\n

In a joint Instagram post, they wrote:<\/p>\n

\u201cOur little angel, we love you forever. Our beautiful daughter went to heaven October 26th. There are no words to describe the pain, but we hold her in our hearts and cherish every second we had with her.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The post included a photo of their hands resting on their daughter\u2019s. The news came days after the Dodgers\u2019 World Series win over the Toronto Blue Jays.<\/p>\n

The Vesias thanked the team for their support:<\/p>\n

\u201cOur baseball family showed up for us, and we wouldn\u2019t be able to do this without them.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

In tribute, Dodgers players wore Vesia\u2019s No. 51 on their caps during Game 3.
\u201cVes means a lot to all of us,\u201d said Clayton Kershaw. \u201cWe wanted to do something to honor him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dodgers president Andrew Friedman added, \u201cThis is so much bigger than baseball. Our priority was simply to be supportive.\u201d<\/p>\n
