A woman has shared a photo capturing the final moments of her three-year-old granddaughter\u2019s life, taken shortly before the child\u2019s tragic death.<\/p>\n
Scarlett Jensen was killed in a hit-and-run on October 7, 2022, while walking with her grandmother and 2-year-old brother, Henry, on their family\u2019s private driveway in Oldtown, Idaho. A speeding Chevy Tahoe struck all three. Scarlett died instantly, while Henry and their grandmother were critically injured. The driver fled on foot but was arrested miles away and is now serving a 10-year sentence.<\/p>\n
Henry was airlifted to a children\u2019s hospital with multiple severe injuries, including a fractured spine and broken ribs. He spent a week in the PICU and wore a full body brace for 10 weeks. His grandmother also suffered several broken bones.<\/p>\n
Weeks later, Scarlett\u2019s mother, Samantha, found a photo on her mom\u2019s recovered phone\u2014taken just minutes before Scarlett\u2019s recorded time of death. Scarlett had asked to get out of her stroller to pick flowers after returning from an ice-cream outing, and her grandmother captured the moment.<\/p>\n
Samantha says grief still comes in waves, but her family is working through it with therapy and faith. Two years on, she now sees the photo as a gift.<\/p>\n
