On April 28, 2025, just before 11:20 p.m., a bullet fired through her window struck her in the arm and chest. She managed to call 911 before collapsing, but died before first responders arrived.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"555\" data-end=\"663\">\u201cShe was bravely battling cancer yet again,\u201d wrote Juli\u00e1na King, who created a GoFundMe for James\u2019 children.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"665\" data-end=\"1060\">On May 1, police arrested 20-year-old Ebenezer Worku. According to an affidavit, Worku\u2014who claimed to suffer from \u201chomicidal schizophrenia\u201d\u2014said he accidentally fired the gun while cleaning it in his car outside James\u2019 home.
