A South Carolina student who went viral after gouging out her own eyes during a meth-induced psychotic episode says she has \u201cno regrets,\u201d even after recently being fired from her job.<\/p>\n

Kaylee Muthart was 20 in 2018 when, high on meth, she suffered a severe hallucination that led her to harm herself. The incident left her permanently blind, but she later got sober and began rebuilding her life, including taking a dishwashing job while continuing her education.<\/p>\n

Recently, Kaylee was dismissed from that job after repeatedly sneaking food from the restaurant to feed a stray cat and her kittens. Despite the firing, she told the Mirror she feels \u201cpositive,\u201d saying she followed her conscience and doesn\u2019t regret helping the animals.<\/p>\n

Kaylee now wears prosthetic eyes and says that although she sometimes struggles emotionally, she is happier sober and would \u201crather be blind than dependent on drugs.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n
