It turns out, President Trump has abstained from drinking alcohol throughout his life, and he once shared the tragic reason why.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Speaking to\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/trump-pressured-his-alcoholic-brother-about-his-career-now-he-has-regrets-\/2019\/08\/07\/58ec2d70-b216-11e9-8f6c-7828e68cb15f_story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Washington Post<\/a><\/em>\u00a0in 2019, Trump opened up about the death of his brother, Fred Trump Jr.\u00a0<\/strong>Fred was the eldest son in the family, and was poised to inherit the family business. However, he disappointed his father, Fred Trump Sr., when he chose to become a pilot.<\/p>\n<p>Donald, who was nearly eight years younger than Fred, inherited the business instead. He also questioned Fred\u2019s decision to become an airline pilot. He told\u00a0<em>The Washington Post<\/em>\u00a0he later regretted putting pressure on his brother for his career choice.<\/p>\n<p>Fred turned to drinking, and his alcoholism eventually made it impossible for him to be a good pilot. He returned to working for the Trump family business. Sadly, Fred passed away on September 26, 1981, after suffering a heart attack.
