James Spader, now 65, remains one of the most talented yet underrated actors of his generation. Off-screen, he lives a disciplined, quiet life, avoids technology, and fiercely protects his privacy.<\/p>\n

Born into a family of teachers in Boston, he forged his own path at 17, leaving Phillips Academy for New York City, where he worked odd jobs while pursuing acting. His early film roles included Endless Love<\/em> (1981) and his breakout as Steff in Pretty in Pink<\/em> (1986). He later won Best Actor at Cannes for Sex, Lies, and Videotape<\/em> and starred in White Palace<\/em>.<\/p>\n

His most iconic role is lawyer Alan Shore in The Practice<\/em> and Boston Legal<\/em>, earning him three Emmys. Despite Hollywood fame, Spader avoided the wild 1980s lifestyle and kept his private life tightly guarded.<\/p>\n

He married yoga instructor Victoria Kheel, had two sons, and later entered a long-term relationship with actress Leslie Stefanson, with whom he shares a son. Spader has spoken openly about having obsessive-compulsive tendencies and about becoming a father again at nearly 50.<\/p>\n

He famously avoids modern tech, joking that even his broken flip phone barely works.<\/p>\n
