A huge blaze has erupted this morning at a six-storey apartment building on the Upper West Side of New York City.<\/p>\n

The incident took place at 201 West 107th Street, at about 8:20 am, and swiftly spread through the building\u2019s roof and upper floors. Shocking images were shared on social media that showed flames and thick black smoke billowing from the building.<\/p>\n

Debris started to rain down onto the sidewalk and narrowly missed emergency vehicles. Dramatic scenes captured this inferno as firefighters were seen attacking the blaze from rooftops and the upper levels.<\/p>\n

Flames and thick black smoke started to billow from the building while debris began to rain down onto the sidewalk and narrowly missed emergency cars. The scenes were called out to be very dramatic this morning, with firefighters attacking the fire rooftops and ladder trucks. The building held nearly 40 apartments, and there was heat, smoke, and growing danger on the rise.<\/p>\n

Many residents managed to evacuate the building in time as fire crews started to rush in. More than 100 emergency personnel responded to the scene as authorities designated this blaze a four-alarm fire.
