A 15-year-old boy in Turkey has died after coworkers carried out what they called a \u201cjoke.\u201d The child was restrained and had a high-pressure air compressor inserted into his rectum, causing his intestines to explode from the internal blast.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Nov.14, 15-year-old Muhammed Kendirci was working at a carpentry warehouse in Bozova, \u015eanl\u0131urfa Province, as part of his apprenticeship. The day took a horrific turn when two older coworkers restrained him and carried out a violent\u00a0assault<\/a>\u00a0that would ultimately cost him his life.<\/p>\n

Local reports from\u00a0Milliyet<\/a>\u00a0say that the main suspect, identified as journeyman Habip Aksoy, and an unnamed friend, forced Muhammed down and tied his hands, setting the stage for a horrifying\u00a0attack<\/a>.<\/p>\n

With the\u00a0teenager<\/a>\u00a0unable to defend himself, the men \u2013 who claimed it was meant to be a \u201cjoke\u201d \u2013 forcibly removed his pants and inserted the nozzle of a high-pressure air compressor into his rectum and discharged it.<\/p>\n

Blew up his organs<\/h2>\n

The high-pressure air compressor \u2013 commonly used across industries like firefighting, SCUBA diving, and automotive repair \u2013 delivered an intense burst of air that inflicted catastrophic internal injuries.<\/p>\n

The immense force of the air tore through the boy\u2019s intestines and organs, leaving him critically wounded. First responders were called to the scene and rushed him to Harran University Research and Application Hospital, according to Milliyet.<\/p>\n

After spending five days intensive care, where he fought for his life, local news outlets report that the boy died the morning of Nov. 19.<\/p>\n

\u2018Son\u2019s pants nowhere to be seen\u2019<\/h2>\n

In an interview with\u00a0Gazete Ipekyol<\/a>, Muhammed\u2019s parents \u2013 his mother, Nebihe, and father, Ahmet \u2013 said they are still searching for answers, struggling to comprehend the horrific violence that ended the life of their youngest son.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are at least three people in the workshop. Isn\u2019t it strange that no one sees?\u201d Muhammed\u2019s mother, Nebihe, told the outlet (translated to English). \u201cImpossible! They should hear [him] even from shouting \u2013 they\u2019re not deaf. Does your logic accept this? Our logic doesn\u2019t. Shouldn\u2019t there be cameras in the workshop?\u201d<\/p>\n

Her disbelief grew as she spoke about missing personal belongings \u2013 details that now haunt her in the absence of explanations.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy son\u2019s pants are nowhere to be seen. His slippers are nowhere to be seen. His underwear is nowhere to be seen. Did he go there naked, for God\u2019s sake? Where are the things? How can a child\u2019s pants disappear?\u201d Nebihe said.<\/p>\n

\u2018Don\u2019t say it\u2019s a joke\u2019<\/h2>\n

Speaking of Aksoy and the unnamed suspect placing the air compressor inside their son\u2019s rectum, Ahmet \u2013 Muhammed\u2019s dad \u2013 said: \u201cDoesn\u2019t [Aksoy] know there\u2019s air pressure? The police came to me and said, \u2018I put my hand on the compressor, it almost pierced my hand.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFor God\u2019s sake, don\u2019t say it\u2019s a joke, don\u2019t say anything about it, I beg you. How can this be a joke?\u201d Nebihe cried, referring to Aksoy\u2019s \u201cjoke\u201d defense.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a murder. My child was killed, he fell victim to brutality,\u201d the grieving mom told Gazete Ipekyol. \u201cHe was brutally murdered. A human being wouldn\u2019t do that. The child just lets that air out until he vomits.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOur child was killed. Our child was killed.\u201d Ahmet, added.<\/p>\n

Child labor laws<\/h2>\n

Meanwhile, the tragedy has intensified scrutiny over child labor laws, as local lawmakers raise alarms about systemic neglect. Members of parliament are calling for accountability, warning that \u201cthe right to education is disregarded\u201d and \u201cchild labor is surrendered to exploitation.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMuhammed Kendirci, who should have been at school, was subjected to torture while working as an apprentice in a carpentry workshop,\u201d\u00a0Suat \u00d6z\u00e7a\u011fda\u015f<\/a>, a member of the Turkish parliament, shared on X. \u201cThe prosecutor\u2019s office had stated in its initial statement that the incident was not torture but a case of joking around.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis horrific event is the collective responsibility of those who turn a blind eye to child labor\u2026those who exploit cheap labor, children\u2019s bodies, and the sweat of their brows.\u201d<\/p>\n
