Actress Melissa Gilbert has vowed to support her husband, actor and director Timothy Busfield, after he turned himself in to police following child sex abuse allegations.<\/p>\n

Busfield surrendered on January 13, days after Albuquerque police issued a warrant accusing him of unlawful sexual contact with 11-year-old twin boys on the set of The Cleaning Lady<\/em>. He is currently in custody at the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center.<\/p>\n

The 68-year-old has been charged with two counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor and one count of child abuse. Prosecutors plan to seek his continued detention while the case proceeds, with a judge to decide whether he will remain jailed or be released pending trial.<\/p>\n

Busfield has strongly denied the allegations, calling them \u201clies\u201d in a video shared online and vowing to fight the charges and clear his name.<\/p>\n

Gilbert, his wife since 2013, has chosen not to comment publicly at this time, honoring her husband\u2019s legal counsel\u2019s request.
