Bruce Willis, 71, stepped away from acting in 2022 after being diagnosed with aphasia, a neurological disorder affecting communication. Less than a year later, his condition progressed to frontotemporal dementia (FTD), a degenerative brain disease impacting language, behavior, and personality.<\/p>\n
Emma Heming Willis, 47, recalls the early changes in her husband: a quietness and emotional distance that was \u201calarming and scary.\u201d Receiving the diagnosis was overwhelming, leaving her \u201cfree falling.\u201d<\/p>\n
Since then, she has turned advocacy into action, raising awareness for dementia, supporting caregivers, and launching the Emma & Bruce Willis Fund for Dementia Research and Caregiver Support.<\/p>\n
To balance Bruce\u2019s care with their daughters Mabel, 13, and Evelyn, 11, he now lives in a nearby home with professional caregivers. Emma says it was \u201cone of the hardest decisions\u201d she\u2019s made but allows the girls a stable home.<\/p>\n
