Ed Bernard, the character actor known for roles in Police Woman<\/em> and The White Shadow<\/em>, has died at 86. He passed away on January 23 in Northridge, California, his family confirmed.<\/p>\n

Born in 1939 in Philadelphia, Bernard began on stage before moving to film and TV in the 1970s. He gained recognition as Det. Joe Styles on Police Woman<\/em> (1974\u20131978) and later as Principal Jim Willis on The White Shadow<\/em>.<\/p>\n

He went on to appear in many popular series, including ER<\/em>, NYPD Blue<\/em>, and JAG<\/em>, with his final on-screen role in 2005.<\/p>\n

Off-screen, he was remembered as a devoted father, grandfather, and lifelong learner. He is survived by his two sons and four grandchildren.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
