Best known for his roles in Top Gun<\/span><\/span> and Back to the Future<\/span><\/span>, Tolkan became iconic for playing tough, intimidating authority figures. He memorably portrayed Stinger alongside Tom Cruise<\/span><\/span>, and Vice Principal Strickland opposite Michael J. Fox<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Born in Calumet, Michigan<\/span><\/span>, he overcame a troubled youth, later serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War<\/span><\/span>. He spent decades refining his craft in New York, studying under Stella Adler<\/span><\/span> and Lee Strasberg<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n
