Soaked and shivering, she stood in front of her family who had mocked her fear and treated her struggle as a joke. The laughter was gone now, replaced with silence and discomfort.<\/p>\n

Calmly, she removed her wet headscarf, wrung it out slowly, and looked at them with steady eyes.<\/p>\n

\u201cI may not have learned to swim,\u201d she said, \u201cbut I\u2019ve learned something more important today\u2014I\u2019ve learned where I stand in your lives.\u201d<\/p>\n

Her grandson looked away, her son tried to speak, but she raised her hand to stop him. Her voice stayed calm but firm.<\/p>\n
