Eric Clapton<\/span><\/span>, 79, endured a devastating tragedy in 1991 when his 4-year-old son, Conor, died after falling from a 53rd-floor apartment in New York.<\/p>\n

The day before, Clapton had spent a joyful day with his son at the circus and promised to be a more present father, even planning a trip to the Bronx Zoo the next day. Tragically, Conor died the following morning after running past an open window left unlatched.<\/p>\n

Clapton was left shattered and withdrew from public life, spending nearly a year in isolation, using music to cope with the loss. He later channeled his grief into the song Tears in Heaven<\/em>, keeping his son\u2019s memory alive.<\/p>\n
