An Arizona sheriff investigating the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie says the case was likely a \u201ctargeted\u201d attack and warns the suspect could strike again.<\/p>\n

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said investigators believe they understand the motive but cannot be certain, refusing to share details as the search enters its sixth week with no major leads.<\/p>\n

He urged the public to remain cautious, saying no one should assume they are safe.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe we know why it happened, but we\u2019re not 100% sure,\u201d Nanos said, adding it would be dangerous to dismiss the risk.<\/p>\n

The investigation has drawn criticism for unclear public statements and security lapses around Guthrie\u2019s Tucson home, where reporters were reportedly able to approach the property.<\/p>\n

Despite door-to-door searches and ongoing efforts, no suspect has been identified. Meanwhile, Guthrie\u2019s daughter, Savannah Guthrie, has returned briefly to the \u201cToday\u201d show, saying she plans to resume work full-time later.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
