Phil Collins has opened up on the BBC\u2019s Eras<\/em> podcast about his ongoing health struggles, revealing he now requires 24\/7 care due to complications from a 2007 spinal injury that caused lasting nerve damage.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Zoe Ball, the award-winning musician said, \u201cI have a 24-hour live-in nurse\u2026 I\u2019ve had everything that could go wrong with me, did go wrong with me,\u201d adding that multiple knee surgeries have left him with only one working knee and limited mobility with crutches.<\/p>\n

Collins also reflected on Genesis\u2019 2022 farewell tour, where his son Nic performed on drums as he sang on stage, admitting his physical condition made performing increasingly difficult and frustrating.<\/p>\n

He revealed that past touring also worsened his health, leading to heavy drinking, hospital stays, and kidney issues. Since then, he has quit alcohol and recently marked two years of sobriety, describing the past period as \u201cdifficult\u201d but saying, \u201cIt\u2019s all right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite his struggles, Collins said he feels grateful for his children and long career in music, calling himself \u201cvery lucky\u201d and proud of his life and achievements.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n
