I woke up expecting a normal morning, but my wheelchair was gone.<\/p>\n

At first I thought I had just moved it, but panic set in when I realized it wasn\u2019t beside the bed. I called for my husband Terry\u2014no answer. Then I heard his phone faintly down the hall.<\/p>\n

Fear and anger took over as I dragged myself through the house, struggling across the floor, convinced something was wrong. I heard a woman\u2019s voice from the garage and Terry laughing quietly. My worst thoughts hit me at once.<\/p>\n

When I finally reached the garage, I saw Terry with a woman\u2014and my wheelchair completely taken apart. I was sure I had been betrayed.<\/p>\n

But Terry stopped me and explained everything. The woman, Dana, was an expert helping him replace my old wheelchair with a new, advanced one. It wasn\u2019t destroyed\u2014it was being upgraded as a surprise for our 15th anniversary.<\/p>\n

I had spent that morning in fear, thinking the worst, but it was meant to be love, not harm. I had forgotten the anniversary, and in the end, I realized I wasn\u2019t losing my independence\u2014I was gaining something new, and I wasn\u2019t alone.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
