A German Shepherd abandoned outside a Walmart with a box of toys and food spent three days alone before being taken to a shelter. Though described as calm and friendly, the frightened dog was labeled \u201crescue only\u201d and placed at risk of euthanasia because of his fearful behavior in the shelter.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Pet photographer Leanna Ayala<\/span><\/span> shared the dog\u2019s story online, explaining that shelter environments can make dogs appear scared and withdrawn even if they are gentle by nature. She urged people to give him a second chance.<\/p>\n

Thankfully, the dog\u2014now named Maverick\u2014was rescued just before his final shelter day and is now living with a foster-to-adopt family in Washington<\/span><\/span>. Ayala later thanked supporters for helping save his life, calling his journey from abandonment to a new home an emotional rollercoaster.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
