Eric Dane<\/span><\/span>, best known for playing Dr. Mark Sloan \u201cMcSteamy\u201d on Grey’s Anatomy<\/span><\/span>, has died at age 53, according to his family.<\/p>\n

His death comes 10 months after publicly revealing his battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis<\/span><\/span>. In a statement, his family said he passed away surrounded by loved ones, including his wife and daughters, Billie and Georgia.<\/p>\n

Born in San Francisco in 1972, Dane began acting in the 1990s with roles on shows like Saved by the Bell<\/span><\/span>, The Wonder Years<\/span><\/span>, and Married… with Children<\/span><\/span> before becoming a breakout star on Grey\u2019s Anatomy in 2006.<\/p>\n

After leaving the series in 2012, he appeared in films including X-Men: The Last Stand<\/span><\/span>, Valentine’s Day<\/span><\/span>, and Burlesque<\/span><\/span>. More recently, he earned praise for his role as Cal Jacobs on Euphoria<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Off-screen, Dane spoke openly about addiction, mental health struggles, and his ALS diagnosis, later becoming an advocate for awareness and research.
