Rhys Russell<\/span><\/span> was just 18 when his life was tragically cut short by an aggressive form of melanoma that showed almost no warning signs. What began as a small red patch on his scalp, hidden beneath his hair and seemingly harmless, quickly turned into stage four cancer that spread to his liver, lungs, and brain within months.<\/p>\n

Despite intensive treatments, Rhys endured severe pain as the disease rapidly progressed. His father, Oli Russell, later spoke out to raise awareness, explaining that melanoma is not only caused by sun exposure and can also affect young, healthy people through genetics or hidden symptoms.<\/p>\n

Even during his final days, Rhys remained strong and found comfort in a heartfelt Zoom call with his soccer idol, Jack Grealish<\/span><\/span>, who sent him a personal message and signed shirt.<\/p>\n

Now, Rhys\u2019 parents are sharing his story to encourage people to take even small changes in their bodies seriously and seek medical advice early. They are also honoring his final wish to have his ashes scattered at Etihad Stadium<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n
