Alex Ligertwood, longtime lead singer of Santana, has died at 79 in Los Angeles. His wife, Shawn Brogan, shared that he passed peacefully in his sleep with his dog by his side.<\/p>\n

Ligertwood was Santana\u2019s lead vocalist from 1979 to 1994 and became known for hits like \u201cWinning,\u201d \u201cHold On,\u201d and \u201cAll I Ever Wanted.\u201d His powerful voice helped define one of the band\u2019s most successful eras.<\/p>\n

In an emotional tribute, his wife called him \u201call heart and soul\u201d and said music was his greatest passion. She also revealed he performed his final show just two weeks before his passing.<\/p>\n

Before Santana, the Scottish singer worked with artists including Jeff Beck, Brian Auger, Average White Band, and David Sancious.<\/p>\n
