CBS\u2019s <\/span>The Late Show with Stephen Colbert<\/em> has been a key part of late-night TV since 2015, continuing the legacy that began in 1993 with David Letterman. After decades on air, CBS is now ending the franchise.<\/span><\/div>\n

The final episode will air on May 21, and CBS will replace the 11:35 p.m. slot with Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen<\/em>. Starting May 22, the network will broadcast back-to-back half-hour episodes of the comedy panel show, followed at 12:37 a.m. by Funny You Should Ask<\/em>, another Byron Allen production.<\/p>\n

CBS said the change marks the end of more than 30 years of the Late Show<\/em> brand, calling it a financial decision rather than one based on performance or content.<\/p>\n

Byron Allen\u2019s Comics Unleashed<\/em>, which launched in 2006, features comedians performing stand-up and discussing light, non-political humor. Allen has said he prefers the show to focus on clean, universal comedy rather than current events.<\/p>\n
