Lauren Wasser is a Californian model who lost her right leg in 2012 after developing menstrual toxic shock syndrome (mTSS) linked to tampon use. She had gone to the hospital with flu-like symptoms, but her condition rapidly worsened, leading to organ failure, a coma, and a 1% chance of survival. At just 24, her leg had to be amputated.<\/p>\n

Years later, she also lost her other leg due to complications from the same condition.<\/p>\n

Lauren has since spoken out about the dangers of tampons and launched a legal battle against the brand involved, saying women deserve to know the risks of menstrual products. She has described nearly dying from the infection and the life-changing impact it had on her health and mental state.<\/p>\n

After surviving deep depression, she found purpose in raising awareness about toxic shock syndrome, becoming a global advocate for women\u2019s health and safety.<\/p>\n
