Austin Metcalf\u2019s mother, Meghan Metcalf, delivered a heartbreaking statement to the teen convicted of killing her son moments before he was sentenced to 35 years in prison.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Karmelo Anthony, 19, was sentenced on June 10 after being found guilty of murdering 17-year-old Austin Metcalf during a 2025 Texas high school track meet in Frisco.<\/p>\n

Before sentencing, Austin\u2019s family addressed Anthony directly in court about the pain caused by the loss.<\/p>\n

Meghan described her daily grief, saying life without her son feels like constant emptiness and speaking to him only at his grave.<\/p>\n

She remembered Austin as a loving, peaceful teenager who brought people together, stressing, \u201cMy son was murdered. He didn\u2019t just die.\u201d<\/p>\n

Turning to Anthony, she added, \u201cYou should feel lucky you got 35 years because I\u2019ve been given a life sentence.\u201d<\/p>\n

Austin\u2019s father, Jeff Metcalf, also spoke in court, saying the loss destroyed him and changed his life forever.<\/p>\n

He said he forgave Anthony after the tragedy but could never forgive the act itself, and reminded him that actions come with consequences.<\/p>\n

The emotional statements came as Anthony was sentenced to 35 years in prison.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
