He appeared in popular series such as <em data-start=\"392\" data-end=\"411\">The Twilight Zone<\/em>, <em data-start=\"413\" data-end=\"426\">Perry Mason<\/em>, <em data-start=\"428\" data-end=\"438\">Gunsmoke<\/em>, and <em data-start=\"444\" data-end=\"457\">The Waltons<\/em>, as well as films including <em data-start=\"486\" data-end=\"496\">Papillon<\/em> and <em data-start=\"501\" data-end=\"524\">The Last Picture Show<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"527\" data-end=\"663\">He gained wider recognition for his role in <em data-start=\"571\" data-end=\"579\">Dallas<\/em>, where he played one of J.R.
