Tragically, at just 19, Avery passed away on September 4, 2024, in her dorm room in Colorado Springs. Despite emergency efforts, she was declared dead at the scene with no visible signs of trauma. An autopsy later revealed she died from Paeniclostridium sordellii sepsis<\/strong>\u2014a rare, deadly bacterial infection\u2014complicating a viral respiratory illness.<\/p>\n Fellow cadets had found her unresponsive after days of severe coughing. Experts believe early antibiotic treatment might have saved her life.<\/p>\n Avery\u2019s death shocked her family, friends, and the Air Force Academy community. She had recently graduated high school, excelling in academics, cheerleading, powerlifting, band, and cross country.
