His death was announced publicly on <strong data-start=\"361\" data-end=\"371\">July 4<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"374\" data-end=\"561\">Born on <strong data-start=\"382\" data-end=\"400\">March 26, 1934<\/strong>, in Montreal, Canada, Baker built a successful career in Hollywood during the 1950s and 1960s, becoming known for his warm personality and comedic performances.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"563\" data-end=\"784\">He gained recognition as <strong data-start=\"588\" data-end=\"598\">Stinky<\/strong> in the 1959 surfing classic <em data-start=\"627\" data-end=\"635\">Gidget<\/em>, starring <strong data-start=\"646\" data-end=\"660\">Sandra Dee<\/strong>, a film that helped introduce surf culture to mainstream audiences and inspired several sequels and television adaptations.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"786\" data-end=\"976\">In 1965, Baker appeared alongside <strong data-start=\"820\" data-end=\"837\">Elvis Presley<\/strong> in the musical comedy <em data-start=\"860\" data-end=\"872\">Girl Happy<\/em>, portraying <strong data-start=\"885\" data-end=\"895\">Wilbur<\/strong>.
