Tretow, who has died at the age of 80.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"149\" data-end=\"316\">Known as the \u201cfifth member\u201d of ABBA, Tretow played a major role in creating the band\u2019s legendary sound during their most successful years in the 1970s and early 1980s.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"318\" data-end=\"461\">All four members of the group shared emotional messages honoring his memory and thanking him for his unforgettable contribution to their music.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"463\" data-end=\"704\">Born in Sweden, Tretow began working with ABBA after meeting Bj\u00f6rn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson at Metronome Studio. His innovative recording techniques, including layered vocals and creative effects, helped shape the group\u2019s worldwide sound.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"706\" data-end=\"812\">Beyond ABBA, he worked with other Swedish artists and contributed to projects such as the musical <em data-start=\"804\" data-end=\"811\">Chess<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"814\" data-end=\"943\">Tretow stepped away from music after suffering a stroke in 2001.
