His cause of death has not been disclosed.<\/p>\n<p>Scott served more than two decades in Congress and was a strong advocate for farmers, education, healthcare and veterans. A Democrat, he was serving his 12th term and was seeking reelection for a 13th.<\/p>\n<p>Born in South Carolina in 1945, Scott later moved to Georgia, where he built a successful business before entering politics.<\/p>\n<p>In 2002, he was elected to the U.S. House representing Georgia\u2019s 13th District.
