{"id":32787,"date":"2026-08-16T07:49:40","date_gmt":"2026-08-16T07:49:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/albotips.com\/?p=32787"},"modified":"2026-08-16T07:49:40","modified_gmt":"2026-08-16T07:49:40","slug":"citizen-smith-doctor-who-actress-dies-at-76-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/albotips.com\/?p=32787","title":{"rendered":"Citizen Smith &#038; Doctor Who Actress Dies at 76"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Beloved British actress <strong>Cheryl Hall<\/strong>, best known for <em>Citizen Smith<\/em> and <em>Doctor Who<\/em>, has died at the age of 76.<\/p>\n<p>The heartbreaking news was shared by actor Robin Askwith, who dated Hall in the 1970s.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat a force of nature she was,\u201d Askwith wrote. \u201cA really innovative, working-class, charismatic actress\u2026 Brave in every way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hall began her acting career in the late 1960s and became known for roles in <em>On the Buses<\/em>, <em>Doctor Who<\/em>, <em>Citizen Smith<\/em>, <em>The Bill<\/em>, <em>Poirot<\/em>, <em>Inspector Morse<\/em>, <em>Casualty<\/em>, <em>Silent Witness<\/em> and <em>EastEnders<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>She also came close to becoming part of <em>Doctor Who<\/em> history when she was considered for the role of Jo Grant before Katy Manning was cast.<\/p>\n<p>Outside acting, Hall entered politics and became a Labour candidate and later served on Kent County Council.<\/p>\n<p>She leaves behind a career spanning decades and performances remembered by generations of British television viewers.<\/p>\n<p>Askwith ended his tribute with heartbreaking words:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe was my beginning.
