He was treated at a nearby hospital and released the same day.<\/p>\n<p>The 49ers say Shanahan is recovering at home and making steady progress, but doctors have not yet cleared him to fully return to work.<\/p>\n<p>As training camp begins, assistant head coach Chris Foerster and the team\u2019s coordinators will help oversee practices while Shanahan takes a limited role.<\/p>\n<p>Police have released few details about the crash. Both drivers cooperated with investigators, and no citations were issued.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the injuries, the 49ers remain optimistic Shanahan will return before the regular season begins. General manager John Lynch said the team\u2019s priority is making sure he is fully healthy before returning.<\/p>\n<p>Shanahan, who is entering his 10th season as San Francisco\u2019s head coach, has established himself as one of the NFL\u2019s top offensive minds.
