Known for his dedication, compassion, and leadership, Hoffman was fatally stabbed during a routine call by 38-year-old Shanetta Bossell, who has since been charged with murder.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"492\" data-end=\"739\">A respected and beloved member of his community, Hoffman responded to thousands of calls during his time with the Kansas City Fire Department. Colleagues describe him as a kind, soft-spoken professional who embodied the best of the EMS profession.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"741\" data-end=\"922\">\u201cHe was one of my favorite students and never once received a complaint,\u201d said EMS Division Chief Paul Paikowski. \u201cWhat makes it worse is that he was murdered while trying to help.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"924\" data-end=\"1087\">Hoffman\u2019s death has deeply affected first responders and the broader community.
