A Utah family of five tragically died after a sudden flash flood swept through a southern Utah canyon during a hiking trip.<\/p>\n
The victims were identified as Provo Fire Department Captain Spencer Long, his wife Katrina, and their three sons, Reid, Thayne, and Gage. Their daughter, Lydia, was not on the trip and is the family\u2019s only surviving child.<\/p>\n
Authorities said the family was hiking near Sunglow Campground in Wayne County when heavy rain triggered a powerful flash flood. Search crews recovered the victims Friday night and Saturday.<\/p>\n
The Provo Fire Department said it was \u201cabsolutely heartbroken\u201d by the deaths of Captain Long and his family.<\/p>\n
