My Parents Forgot My Birthday for Years — Then Dad Saw My Mercedes and Called the Police

My brother Ryan and I share the same birthday, eight years apart.

Every year, my parents celebrated him.

When I turned eight, Ryan got a huge party with a taco truck and dozens of friends.

I got his leftover cake.

At 18, they were in Cabo celebrating Ryan while I spent my birthday alone.

Eventually, I stopped expecting anything.

At 19, I left home with $340, worked night shifts, taught myself to code, and eventually built apps that were acquired by startups.

Five years later, I owned a successful tech company.

My parents knew none of it.

Then I bought myself a Mercedes.

One afternoon, my parents and Ryan suddenly showed up outside my office.

Dad stared at the car.

“Whose is that?”

“Mine.”

“With what money?”

Mom immediately accused me of having a man buy it for me.

Then Dad went even further.

“You stole it. I’m calling the police.”

I simply smiled.

“Go ahead.”

Two officers arrived and confirmed the Mercedes was legally mine.

But while Dad was embarrassing himself, I noticed something behind them.

Their truck was packed with expensive gift boxes.

I recognized the logo immediately.

It was my company’s logo.

Ryan had unknowingly been hired by my company for an event.

Then my COO walked in.

“Sorry to interrupt. The caterer needs your approval.”

My mother froze.

“Your… approval?”

Marcus looked at her.

“She owns the company.”

The room went silent.

The same parents who had called me a thief suddenly realized they had spent years believing I was a failure.

And Ryan finally admitted something that hurt more than anything else:

“You got nothing last year, didn’t you?”

I looked at my family.

“I stopped expecting you a long time ago.”
