I always believed my husband’s Sunday FaceTime calls with our seven-year-old daughter, Sophie, were sacred. He worked at sea for months at a time, but he never missed their weekly conversations.<\/p>\n
Sophie would brush her hair, put on the yellow clips her father had bought her, and wait excitedly for his call. I usually gave them privacy because I knew how much those moments meant to her.<\/p>\n
