The Cannes premiere of Highest 2 Lowest<\/em> took a dramatic turn when Denzel Washington stopped mid-red carpet to confront a photographer.<\/p>\n

According to reports, the actor was walking with co-star A$AP Rocky on May 19 when a photographer tugged on his suit, prompting Washington to call him out. Lip reader Jeremy Freeman told the Daily Mail<\/em> Washington said: \u201cNever put your hands on me again.\u201d He then added, \u201cI\u2019m talking to you, stop, all right.\u201d<\/p>\n

The photographer allegedly responded with \u201cnot allowed\u201d and laughed before repeating the action and asking to take a picture. Washington, visibly frustrated, said: \u201cStop. I mean it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The incident quickly went viral online, with many defending Washington\u2019s reaction. One user wrote: \u201cHe clearly said \u2018don\u2019t ever put your hands on me again\u2019 and [the photographer] did it again to provoke him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite the tense moment, Washington was later honored with a surprise honorary Palme d\u2019Or for his cinematic legacy. Visibly moved, he said: \u201cI\u2019m blessed beyond measure.\u201d<\/p>\n
