What began as a misguided selfie attempt turned into a nightmare when a tourist climbed into a crocodile enclosure in the Philippines, mistaking the 15-foot predator for a statue. Moments later, the crocodile, named Lalay, lunged and attacked, biting the man\u2019s arm and thigh before performing a brutal death roll \u2014 all caught on video.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred on April 28 at Kabug Island Mangrove and Wetlands Park in Zamboanga Sibugay. The 29-year-old man, whose name has not been released, climbed the fence thinking Lalay was a plastic display.<\/p>\n

Police say the crocodile clamped down and held the man for 30 minutes until a handler intervened, smashing concrete over her head to free him. The tourist was hospitalized with serious injuries requiring over 50 stitches.<\/p>\n

The event has gone viral, sparking debate over zoo safety, human recklessness, and concern for Lalay, who some believe was unfairly harmed due to the man\u2019s actions.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis kind of behavior is very dangerous,\u201d police warned, adding the man was lucky to survive. Social media users were less forgiving, calling the stunt \u201cstupid\u201d and expressing sympathy for the crocodile.<\/p>\n

The ordeal is a harsh reminder: wild animals are not photo ops, and enclosures are there for a reason.<\/p>\n
