Officers at Metro Animal Services in Louisville, Kentucky, have seen many tough cases, but a recent call about a dog hiding in the woods for three days stood out.<\/p>\n
Tied to a small tree by a worn-out leash with barely any room to move, the dog\u2014later named Dubya\u2014was surprisingly calm and happy to see help. Unable to cut the leash with bolt cutters, an officer used a knife to free him.<\/p>\n
Back at the shelter, Dubya was in decent shape despite the ordeal. Around three years old, he charmed everyone with his goofy smile and affectionate nature.<\/p>\n
Dubya wasn\u2019t microchipped or neutered, and no owner came forward. Locals criticized the three-day wait before the call, but officials urged quick action if you see an unattended dog.<\/p>\n
Dubya is now receiving treatment for a suspected eye condition and is on track to be neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. He\u2019s great with other dogs and full of energy and love.<\/p>\n
