Most couples celebrate their 40th anniversary with a cruise or beach trip \u2014 but for South African pair Marius and Michelle Nortje, the wild is where their hearts are.<\/p>\n

Their love story took an unforgettable turn during a trip to Kruger National Park, where a routine drive revealed three giraffes \u2014 one covered in strange growths.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe go at least once a year, sometimes four,\u201d Marius, a seasoned wildlife photographer, told The Citizen<\/em>. This time, he captured something rare: a giraffe with large, wart-like lumps. He posted the images on Facebook, sparking concern and curiosity.<\/p>\n

Wildlife experts later identified the condition as a papillomavirus, likely spread by oxpecker birds. Though alarming in appearance, the disease is not deadly and often resolves on its own \u2014 but can still cause discomfort.<\/p>\n

Despite her condition, the giraffe appeared calm and continued grazing. The images stirred emotions online and served as a poignant reminder of nature\u2019s beauty and fragility.<\/p>\n
