His inhaler, locked in the office due to school policy, was out of reach during the emergency. Despite efforts by his mother and a doctor\u2019s note, the school repeatedly confiscated his spare inhalers.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"451\" data-end=\"639\">After his death, Ryan\u2019s mother, Sandra Gibbons, campaigned for change. Her efforts led to the passing of <strong data-start=\"556\" data-end=\"570\">Ryan\u2019s Law<\/strong>, allowing Ontario students to carry inhalers with a doctor\u2019s note.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"641\" data-end=\"873\">The law aims to prevent similar tragedies, but in many places, outdated policies still restrict life-saving access to asthma medication \u2014 despite asthma killing over 10 Americans daily.
