Nicole Lucas Hall, a mother and teacher, is raising two kids, Asher and Winry, while also promoting the message that imperfections make us perfect. Her daughter Winry was born with a rare birthmark called congenital melanocytic nevi (CMN), which covers a fourth of her face.<\/p>\n
When Winry was born in February 2021, Nicole was shocked\u2014her pregnancy had been normal, and she wasn\u2019t expecting any medical conditions. At first, she thought the dark mark on Winry\u2019s head was a bruise, but soon realized it was something else. Despite her initial worry, the nurses reassured her that Winry was healthy.<\/p>\n
CMN can vary in size and color and may increase the risk of melanoma. Nicole and her partner take precautions like using sunscreen and regular dermatology visits. Still, Nicole is more concerned about the possibility of bullying in the future.<\/p>\n
Nicole now uses her platform to celebrate Winry\u2019s uniqueness and to encourage acceptance. She believes representation matters and hopes Winry\u2019s story helps others see that differences are something to embrace.<\/p>\n
