The devastating flash floods in Texas have left over 100 dead and many still missing, with haunting stories emerging from the wreckage.<\/p>\n

One resident told the NY Post<\/em> about a father who clung to a tree, refusing to let go of his babies before being swept away. His wife and two sons remain missing; only their daughter, who was at a nearby camp, survived.<\/p>\n

At Camp Mystic, at least 27 children and counselors have died, with 11 still unaccounted for. \u201cOur hearts are broken,\u201d the camp said, asking for prayers and privacy.<\/p>\n

Camp director Dick Eastland died trying to save children. \u201cIf not of natural causes, this was the only way \u2014 saving the girls he loved,\u201d his grandson wrote.<\/p>\n

Lorena Guillen, who owns the Blue Oak RV Park in hard-hit Kerr County, recalled the horror: \u201cWe heard screaming all night. Cabins floated and smashed into trees.\u201d She described a family of five whose RV floated away in total darkness as the river rose rapidly.<\/p>\n
