As floodwaters tore through central Texas last Friday, a father’s final act has come to light\u2014both chilling and heartbreaking.<\/p>\n
Jeff Ramsey, 61, and his wife Tanya, 46, were asleep in their Airstream at HTR RV Park in Kerrville when the Guadalupe River surged, destroying everything in its path. Moments before the flood hit, Jeff left emotional voicemails for his children, Jake and Rachel:<\/p>\n
\u201cBuddy. I love you so much. It doesn\u2019t look like we are going to make it. Tell Rachey I love her.\u201d<\/p>\n
Then another: \u201cWe\u2019re dying, we\u2019re dying!\u201d\u2014with rushing water and Tanya\u2019s screams in the background. It was the last anyone heard from them.<\/p>\n
Tragically, an evacuation alert from the RV park arrived just as Jeff was recording his message\u2014too late to save them. Still, he used his final moments to warn Tanya\u2019s family in a nearby cabin, saving their lives.<\/p>\n
Tanya\u2019s body was later recovered; Jeff remains missing.<\/p>\n
Jake remembers Tanya as a loving stepmom and cancer survivor. Jeff, an insurance salesman and devoted volunteer at the Adaptive Training Foundation, was described by friends as having a “servant’s heart.”<\/p>\n
Amid the devastation, one miracle emerged: the couple\u2019s dog, Chloe, was found alive at a shelter.<\/p>\n
Jake is grieving deeply and blames the failure of the alert system. At a memorial, he met with Sen. Tan Parker, who promised change. But for Jake, it came too late.<\/p>\n
