I\u2019ve done it myself, and I\u2019m not proud of it.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"248\" data-end=\"372\">But after hearing 17-year-old Katelyn Ray\u2019s story, I\u2019ve made a promise: never again will I drive with my phone within reach.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"374\" data-end=\"559\">On the morning of September 5, 2018, Katelyn was driving to pick up her sister. She never made it. She crashed into a stopped school bus at high speed \u2014 without ever hitting the brakes.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"561\" data-end=\"704\">There were over a dozen children on board. Thankfully, none were hurt. Katelyn, however, was killed instantly. Her phone was still in her hand.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"706\" data-end=\"877\">Police believe she was looking at it instead of the road. One responder took a photo to share a stark warning: <em data-start=\"817\" data-end=\"877\"><strong data-start=\"818\" data-end=\"876\">\u201cPAY ATTENTION!! No brake marks. Phone still in hand.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"879\" data-end=\"1106\">Katelyn\u2019s mom had spoken to her just before the crash \u2014 it was their last conversation. When Katelyn didn\u2019t arrive, her sister posted on Facebook asking if anyone had seen her.
