Jennifer Love Hewitt rose to fame in the late ’90s but quickly became a target of misogynistic tabloid culture. In a Vulture<\/em> interview tied to her return in the 2025 I Know What You Did Last Summer<\/em> sequel, she revealed she only recently processed the extent of the sexism she endured\u2014especially after watching Framing Britney Spears<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI started crying for her, and then I realized I was crying for me,\u201d she said. \u201cBefore I even knew what sex was, I was a sex symbol.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hewitt recalled being judged more for her body than her acting, saying no one talked about her performance\u2014just her chest. \u201cIt was just \u2018boob, boob, boob\u2019 everywhere.\u201d She tried pushing back, even wearing a \u201cSilicone-free\u201d shirt at a junket, but felt ignored.<\/p>\n

A low point came in 2007 when People<\/em> published paparazzi photos of her in a bikini with the headline: \u201cStop Calling Me Fat!\u201d She admitted, \u201cI don\u2019t think I was ever really insecure until that cover\u2026 I don\u2019t know if I\u2019ve ever recovered from it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Her return in the 2025 sequel felt \u201chealing.\u201d This time, she had input on wardrobe and could shift focus to her performance\u2014not her appearance. \u201cNobody\u2019s going to be talking about my boobs,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Despite speculation of a feud with co-star Sarah Michelle Gellar, Hewitt clarified they haven\u2019t spoken since the original film\u2019s release but there’s no bad blood. Gellar later confirmed they didn\u2019t cross paths at the premiere.<\/p>\n

Hewitt, now 46, has been praised for embracing aging naturally. Though she faced body shaming after the premiere, fans defended her. She\u2019s opted for a balanced lifestyle, prioritizing strength and wellness over unrealistic Hollywood standards.<\/p>\n

In a podcast with Mayim Bialik, she reflected on being sexualized as a teen. \u201cThere were grown men talking to me at 16 about my breasts on talk shows,\u201d she said. \u201cIt was accepted back then\u2014but looking back, it\u2019s horrifying.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hewitt said she\u2019s now reclaiming her power and career. \u201cI really wanted to be a good actor. I was trying to outact the conversation around my body.\u201d<\/p>\n
